This course is founded on the basic movements and philosophy to be known as TBT101, Tom Bowen's Therapy, named after a self taught therapist in Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
He was said to treat as many as 13,000 people per year with great results. His basic technique is the content of this course and we will endeavour to teach this to selected students to the best understanding of the therapy.
The therapy is taught in a six-day course with personal instruction and notes provided by the fully qualified instructor Regula Scherrer, licensed with Emetros Pty.Ltd.
Ross Emmett, the founder of the Emmett technique and interpreter of the TBT101 course has 20 years of clinical practice using the technique and 10 years as an instructor and senior instructor. Explanations have also been given to Ross by two of the original therapists trained by Tom.
Ross Emmett has a great understanding of the technique without being too far removed from the original source.
The therapy consists of a series of moves, which allows the therapist the right to assess the muscle tissue for inconsistencies whilst giving the body the opportunity to self correct and relax muscles. There is use of small time delays to give the brain time to re-evaluate the muscle, resulting in a better muscle balance and creating a state of relaxation.
When the memory has trouble in recalling the state of muscle relaxation, the therapist has the right to give further information to the body to assist in the correction. This may be prior training in their other profession while keeping to principles of both therapies.
Using the understanding and the principles of both their prior training and TBT101, therapists will have the right to select corrections from either modality that will work well together. This allows the body to return to its recognised state of harmony.
The technique will allow all ages of people from the very, very young right through to the very old the opportunity to return to a comfortable state of harmony.
This course is meant to give the therapist simple tools for muscle assessment while using least effort on their behalf. These assessments do not cause discomfort for clients but will pave the way to de-activate pain receptors or de-traumatise stretch receptors within the their body. All focus is on the client’s wellbeing without creating any further pain or discomfort.
